This Ain’t No Fooling Around will be the inaugural OPEN CALL exhibition for Sarah Bouchard Gallery, kicking off the 2024 Season.

There is no theme for the OPEN CALL exhibition, however, only work that has NOT BEEN PUBLICLY EXHIBITED will be considered. Work may be something you created decades ago that hasn’t been seen, or it can be wet when you shoot and share images. We are interested in current ideas you’re in the process of exploring and older ideas that feel particularly resonant. We are specifically looking for work that demonstrates a strong identity, artistic integrity and attention to detail.

This exhibition MAY BE a group show. It MAY BE a two or three-person show. It COULD BE a solo show. These decisions will be made based on the submissions received. In-person studio visits are REQUIRED. If you are not available for an in-person studio visit between January 22nd and February 9th, please do not submit work to this open call. *PLEASE NOTE: Artists must have studios in New England for this inaugural call.

All artists who send a completed submission by Midnight on December 31st, 2023 will be notified on January 15th, 2024 as to whether a studio visit will be scheduled. A FINAL DECISION will be e-mailed to all artists with whom we have conducted studio visits on February 14th, 2024.

Completed work must be delivered to the gallery by participating artists in Mid-March, dates to be determined. All work MUST BE READY TO HANG. If you intend to submit work on paper that needs to be framed, all framing must use museum glass or museum acrylic.

The statement and CV will only be referenced if the work stands on its own. Please use the subject heading 2024 OPEN CALL SUBMISSIONS when sending your materials.

Response to the two following questions:
1. Are you available for an in-person studio visit between January 22nd and February 9th, 2024?
2. Are you interested and prepared for a solo exhibition, if offered?

FORMAT
Please submit all materials in a shared Google Drive folder with YOUR NAME and OPEN CALL 2024 in the title. The statement and CV will only be referenced if the work stands on its own. Please use the subject heading 2024 OPEN CALL SUBMISSIONS when sending your materials. Incomplete submissions will not be considered or reviewed. Please e-mail your submission to info@sarahbouchardgallery.com, making sure to enable access in Google Drive so it is possible for your files to be viewed and downloaded.
