Exhibits at Maine Art Galleries Are Full of Tricks and Treats
No, you are not looking at black-and-white large-format photographs of the woods in Jennifer Brou’s astounding exhibition. You are gazing at graphite drawings so fastidiously rendered that they look like photographs. This would be an accomplishment in itself at a small scale — 8 by 10 inches, say. But Brou’s works are 33 by 24.5 inches, at which size they become, frankly, mind-boggling.
